Arkadelphia Public School District Officials are monitoring the weather. If winter weather causes the school to close or delay, the information below shares how our district will communicate the closing or delay with the public. School officials test road conditions and consider weather forecasts before deciding to delay or cancel school. The safety and security of Arkadelphia School District students and staff remain our top priority.
As soon as the decision to close the school is made, the district will immediately share the closing information in the following ways:
Mass text, voice mail, and email through the Apptegy platform (populated by our parent contact information in our Student Information System)
District website (www.arkadelphiaschools.org)
Little Rock news media outlets: KARK(4), Fox(16), KATV(7), and KTHV (11)
If the decision to close is made the night prior (before 9:00 p.m.), an automated mass communication will be sent that night.
If the decision to close is made after 9:00 p.m., the automated mass communication will be sent at 6:00 a.m.
Here are a few tips that you can do right now to ensure you receive messages from the APSD:
1. Make sure the primary contact phone number and email address for your student is correct. If you have not received mass text notifications from Arkadelphia Public Schools this year, please contact your child's school office to update your primary contact phone number.
2. Follow the Arkadelphia Public School District on social media: Facebook (@APSNews), X (@APSD_News), and Instagram (@apsd_news).
The Arkadelphia Public School District has one inclement weather day built into the calendar that will not require us to make up a school day. The next unplanned school closure(s) will be made up through the designated inclement weather days on February 17 (President’s Day) and April 18 (Good Friday). If any further days are missed, they will be added to the end of the school year beginning on May 22.
As a reminder, provisions in the Arkansas LEARNS Act no longer allow AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) days to count towards the required days of instruction for public schools in Arkansas. Any days missed due to weather or other emergencies must be made up as onsite instruction days during the inclement weather days built into the calendar. Teachers will not be assigning school work on inclement weather days to be completed at home. School Chromebooks will not be necessary on inclement weather days.
