Brandi Cotton is our Elementary Gifted and Talented Teacher for Perritt and Peake. Misti Dixon is our Arkadelphia GT Coordinator and provides enrichment opportunities for our Goza and AHS campuses. We appreciate these ladies and their dedication to providing a differentiated learning experience for the unique and diverse needs of our students.

On February 13, the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Education held the “Alternative Education Leadership Day” at the Arkansas State Capitol. At the ceremony, Arkadelphia Senior Romello Lawson received the Jeremy Butler True GRIT Award–this highest honor represents Generosity, Resilience, Integrity, and Tenacity. Romello is a senior in our HUB Program who has worked hard to be on schedule to graduate this May as well as hold a full-time job in the community. He was nominated for the award by his HUB Teacher, LeAndra Dillard. Romello Lawson was recognized at the February School Board meeting with a Badger Pride Award. We are so proud of you Romello. Congratulations!

Goza 8th Graders had the incredible opportunity on Wednesday to visit the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site. The visit was a learning experience for our students with a guided tour and time in the Visitors Center. Students were challenged to make a difference in their world just as the Little Rock Nine. A day they will not forget.

A lot is going on this week in Arkadelphia Public Schools!
We look forward to seeing families at Parent Teacher Conferences after school on Tuesday and Thursday. Don't forget about the Peake and Perritt Book Fairs this week!
AHS will celebrate King of Hearts on Thursday.

On Wednesday, February 14, our schools will not be accepting Valentine's deliveries. Balloons and glass flower vases are not allowed on school buses so we ask that everyone please refrain from sending any Valentine deliveries to school.
The following Valentine's events and fundraisers are happening to allow students an opportunity to participate in Valentine's giving on campus:
Perritt Primary School is having class parties on February 14th. Parties begin at 8:30 a.m. for kindergarten; 1:00 p.m. for second grade; and 1:30 p.m. for first grade.
Peake GT Teacher Brandi Cotton is selling Candygrams that will be delivered on Valentine’s Day for $1. Students can place an order on Monday; the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
Goza Middle School Student Council is selling Crush Grams and Fanta-TASTIC Friend Grams from February 7-13 at $2 for one, or $5 for 3. They will be delivered during homeroom on Valentine’s Day.
Arkadelphia High School FCA is selling Candygrams that will be delivered on Valentine’s Day.
Thank you!

The main water line that services Goza Middle School and Arkadelphia High School has been broken. Estimated time for repair is 2-3 hours. Lunches have already been prepared and nearing the end of serving. If parents want to pick up students or call to give permission for their student driver to check out, it will be considered excused. Buses will not run until regular dismissal times. We will have bottled water available for students who stay on campus. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this unfortunate and unexpected event. Perritt Primary and Peake Elementary are not impacted and will continue their regular school day.

Congratulations to all the Perritt first and second-grade classroom spelling bee winners who participated in today’s grade-level spelling bees. First Grade winners are Kaillah McGhee, 1st Place; Aiden Cruz, 2nd Place; and Pierce Jarvis, 3rd Place. Second Grade winners are Paris Edwards, 1st Place; Kenslei Williams, 2nd Place; and Lauren Huddleston, 3rd Place. Thank you to Sydney Miller and Amanda Harris for coordinating the Perritt Spelling Bees! We appreciate Greg Lathem, Nicole McGough Kenneth Taylor, and Ida Tramble for serving as judges!
