Welcome and Overview

Welcome to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) section of the website. On this page, you will find resources to help students and their families to connect with our department.

Arkansas public schools are to initiate and maintain quality Career & Technical Education programs in accordance with the Arkansas Department of Career Education’s Strategic Plan, Goals, and Objectives.

We are part of a consortium through Dawson Educational Cooperative. Therefore, April Shepherd serves as our cooperative's CTE Coordinator.

We have a local designee with whom she collaborates and communicates to oversee Arkadelphia's use of federal funds.

CTE Consortium through Dawson Educational Cooperative (DEC)

Dawson's CTE Department encourages the development, implementation, and improvement of CTE programs for the region.

The CTE Coordinator provides supporting resources to enable public schools to initiate and maintain quality Career & Technical Education programs in accordance with the Arkansas Department of Career Education’s Strategic Plan, Goals, and Objectives.

The CTE Coordinator works closely with local Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Councils, Post-Secondary Institutions, and Workforce Development Boards by supporting the economic development within the region.

The CTE Coordinator encourages the development, implementation, and improvement of CTE programs for all districts (consortia or single LEA) in the service delivery area.

District Implementation

Through Dawson Educational Cooperative, April Shepherd serves as our cooperative's CTE Coordinator.

Currently, APSD uses the funds from this area per state and federal guidelines.

Personnel, students, their families, and other interested parties are invited to ask questions, to provide feedback, and to contribute to the process as part of our consultation with stakeholders. Therefore, we invite you to use our APSD Federal Programs Engagement Survey (feel free to provide feedback for this and any of the pertinent sections).

Additional Resources

The Operational Guide and the Policies and Procedures documents for the Division of Career and Technical Education are currently under revision and have been removed from the website pending this revision process.
