Officer Dewayne Ward and Officer Chuck Fitzsimmons from the Arkadelphia Police Department spoke to students in Computer Science about the dangerous side of social media, digital citizenship, digital footprint, cyberbullying, and child pornography. Students engaged in discussions with the officers and were able to ask questions about the criminal side of internet safety.

AHS and Goza Middle School will host a flu shot clinic for the health department on Oct 11th in the morning. Flu shot forms will be in the AHS and Goza offices. Any student receiving a flu shot needs to have both the ADH flu form completed as well as the FERPA release form.

AHS Senior Calvin Clardy has been named a Semifinalist in the 68th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Calvin has the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship Competition for some 7,250 scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring. Congratulations Calvin!

Congratulations to AHS Seniors Blaise Batson, Calvin Clardy, and Seth Campbell who were among students from across the country to earn academic honors from the College Board’s National Recognition Programs! The students are being recognized with the National Rural and Small Town Award. The National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors who excel on their PSAT or AP Exams and in their classrooms. Eligible students are invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year, and are awarded at the beginning of the next school year. Congratulations!
